In retrospect, I believe that it is my internship at LoveByte that planted in my mind a link bridge between entrepreneurial vision and the love I have for spreading happiness. The team worked around a central question each day – “How can we bring couples closer and make them happier?” With every marketing stint, every new app build on testflight and the stores, I felt proud that our efforts brought value to our customers.
Sure, most apps and products bring value to their customers – convenience, accessibility, efficiency, affordability. But ours brought a special kind of value. The kind of value that tugs at your heartstrings. The kind of value that allows you to wake up to happiness every morning when your partner had left you a love note via the app.
My kind of value.
So proud of you, Phyllis! When we first had our chat at Ben & Jerry’s, I could tell you were a super sweet girl with both brains & beauty but you were too humble to admit it… that’s when I knew this girl is meant for GREAT things! Someone whom I will want to be sipping coffee with to talk about life when I’m 50. Happiness is a recurring theme in our lives. We live to serve, even if it’s for a short 80 years. “It’s not about me. It’s about making the world a better place.”
“What’s in your hand?” What do you have that you’ve been given? Talent, background, education, freedom, networks, opportunities, wealth, ideas, creativity. What are you doing with what you’ve been given?
I’m very glad that being a part of LoveByte (even for just a month) has made a positive impact in your life somehow! 🙂 Even more glad that we have met and to be able to share the journey with you 🙂
It takes courage to take the first step to decide to want to make a difference. This is so different from what you last told me – you wanted to work for a great company and earn big bucks. Now move your lazy ass and plan your own big dreams. I’ll be behind your behind (pun intended). lol
Do you live or exist? I hope you never have to ask this question “Why do I feel like I’ve got to pretend that I’m more than I really am?”
Your worldview, determines everything else in your life, because it determines your decisions; it determines your relationships; it determines your level of confidence. It determines, really, everything in your life. What we believe, obviously — and you know this — determines our behavior, and our behavior determines what we become in life.
So, the good life is not about looking good, feeling good or having the goods; it’s about being good and doing good. Giving your life away. Significance in life doesn’t come from status, because you can always find somebody who’s got more than you. It doesn’t come from sex. It doesn’t come from salary. It comes from serving. It is in giving our lives away that we find meaning, we find significance.
The purpose of influence is not to build your ego, or your net worth. The purpose of influence is to speak up for those who have no influence.
